Youth In action
Shawn Alexander Latnie was recommended to go to San Francisco for the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) program, June 10th thru June 14th, 2018. Only 20 scholars were chosen to go and he was one out of several 7th and 8th graders. This is an all inclusive trip for 4 days as well as educational. While Shawn is on this trip, he'll be learning while having fun. This will be a great opportunity for him when he goes to high school.
As with most trips, this trip does cost. He will be needing help. No total amount just any amount that you would like to donate to help sponsor him. April of 2018 will be the latest to donate. If you would like to help Shawn reach his goal to attend this awesome opportunity click here.
Youth on the Move
Our own Robert Gilliam, musician extraordinaire, is going places. Robert is one of GSC's graduating seniors of 2018. This talented, young man is aspiring to do great things in the field of music. He has graced us on many occasions with his melodic sounds on the cello, filled the sanctuary with sounds of vibrato on the tenor sax, and occasionally plays his own renditions of melodies on the Piano.
We are proud of Robert and his acceptance to John Hopkins Peabody Conservatory. We honored Robert on the Second Sunday in June with a motivational speech from our Minister of Music, Bro Kasey Cullors. You can see that talk here.
